  • Chip Stein Appointed Chair of Steel and Composite Tank Committee

    The American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards Council has appointed Gregory R. "Chip" Stein, P.E., Managing Principal of Tank Industry Consultants (TIC), chair of the AWWA Steel and Composite Tank Committee. Chip Stein, a thirty-one year veteran of the storage tank industry, has served as interim chair of the committee since the retirement of Stephen W. Meier, P.E., S.E., and was vice chair of the committee under Mr. Meier.

    In his capacity as chair, Chip will oversee all standards development and revision processes for all steel and composite tank standards. Chip Stein also chairs the D101 Standard Subcommittee for the Inspection of Water Tanks and Related Facilities and the AWWA M42 Steel Water-Storage Tanks Manual of Water Supply Practices revision task forces.

    In announcing the appointment, Franklin S. Kurtz, P.E., AWWA Standards Engineer remarked "Throughout the process you (Stein) have enjoyed overwhelming support from your fellow committee members, the Standards Council, and the AWWA standards staff, not to mention the enthusiastic endorsement from Steve Meier. You have earned the full confidence and respect from all involved. I know you'll do a great job. Congratulations, and thank you for taking on this responsibility. I look forward to working with you over the next several years."

  • Shelley Brewer, DrPH, CSP Joins TIC

    TIC is pleased to announce Shelley Brewer, noted industry safety professional, has joined Tank Industry Consultants. Shelley has more than 25 years' experience working with both private and public sector clients for domestic and international projects.

    Shelley has a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Occupational Injury and Illness Prevention Policy and Practice; a Master of Science in Environmental Management; and a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management. She is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
